One River School (Art + Design) presents “Women in Color,” a chromatic burst trio artist exhibition featuring work from Anindita Dasgupta, Janak Narayan, and Lavanya Challa. Color intensifies the expressions of movement and emotion in their art. This exhibition presents bodies of work that redefine the use of bold color to reimagine our visual landscape, both delighting and challenging the eye.

“I paint sometimes as I see it, other times as I imagine it – but always because I am loving it”.
Art to me is about a beautiful journey of self-discovery and a medium to articulate my inner glee. Art is typically experienced by the sense of sight. I would like my art to be experienced through all five senses by
transporting my audience to a place that invokes a certain feeling of joy and a sense of being in the moment. I want them to step into the canvas and breathe in the world within my composition.
An artist’s evolution is an ongoing process. My new works counterbalance lucid brushstrokes, obscure dimensions, and an intuitive color palette that constantly challenge the confines between abstraction and representational art. Color is the language of emotions and the medium of my expression. I use color with abandon and strive to accomplish a composition that evokes a uniquely visceral experience each time akin to
looking into a kaleidoscope.
My free spirit draws instinctive influences from nature and trees have become my muse in creating contemporary, post-Impressionist-inspired, stylized landscapes. I coin my style Transitional Expressionism
because it delicately straddles the twilight area between representational art and Abstract art, thus aligning me seamlessly with traditional and contemporary art audiences.

LAVANYA CHALLA
The inspiration for my paintings comes from my everyday experiences and challenges. I paint from a place of finding balance in chaos, joy in the messy, and beauty in the imperfect, much as life unfolds. All of the marks, colors, and layers intertwine to tell a story, a story that I hope will inspire joy and happiness.
With each painting, I go on a journey of fear, doubt, arrogance, and ugliness; after all that is accepted, allowed to be then flows and emergence this spectacular vision.
Working with various mediums, connecting unlikely materials together, and piecing together a complex picture. A lot of my work is loose and free-flowing, (signature movement) with energy that seeks to draw the viewer in.
I wish to Allow the viewer to fill in the details so that there are many possibilities for shapes and familiar scenes to find in my paintings, l want my people to walk away with an experience worth remembering, a beautiful colorful afternoon etched in their minds forever.
