The Smart Project: Saturday Creative Workshops for youth at SDCC

Saturdays: March 4 – April 22 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | South Dallas Cultural Center

The Smart Project, established in 2019, is a free Dallas-based youth creative art program that offers 8-12 grade students from underserved backgrounds creative lesson plans focusing on photography, digital media, and the visual arts as well as providing creative community teaching opportunities. Students will prepare for their college and career experience by giving them the tools needed to succeed as artists, designers, photographers, and creative writers.

Traditional Visual Arts Workshop | March 4 – 25: The first four-week session will focus on the visual arts and be centered around traditional skills. There are only 12 spots open for this workshop.

Digital Media Workshop | April 1 – 22: This session will focus on digital media and be centered around character development. There are only 10 spots open for this workshop. The priority sign-up date for this workshop is Saturday, March 11.

Each program is intended to build off the prior week. For your student to get the most out of the program, they will need to attend all sessions.
