Grant Benoit and Mary Cale Wilson will speak about their work at 6:15 at the closing reception of their exhibit atween. The reception is Tuesday, April 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Grant Benoit and Mary Cale Wilson combine traditional printmaking and ceramic techniques with mixed media (tarpaper, carpet, found domestic objects…) to create works that explore ideas of identity, memory, culture, and place. Though not a collaboration in the purest sense of the word, the work presented at the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery at the University of Dallas stems from Benoit and Wilson’s conversations about their shared interest in memory, nostalgia, object permanence, and place. Their artwork is a manifestation of those conversations and invites viewers to contemplate their own relationship to spaces, places, and things.
