Applications sought for a public artwork that supports and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in a new LGBTQ+ welcoming building. The artwork will be located in the building pass through of a new four story mixed-use and mixed-income building located between East Avenue and Broad Street in Rochester, NY. We seek applications by October 31 for an iconic work of art that represents, welcomes, or supports the LGBTQ+ community in some way, and we encourage artists to think expansively about the space, utilizing the wall, ceiling, and ground. The resulting commission should be bold, eye-catching, thoughtful, and engaging both day and night. This opportunity is open to artists and artists teams of all disciplines who have completed other public commissions of a similar scale. Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) is working with neighborhood partners to administer the RFQ/RFP process.
