Water Works call for entries

UT Permian Basin’s Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery and the Ellen Noël Art Museum in Odessa, Texas invite submissions for Water Works, a spring 2022 exhibition.

Inseparable from life, water has been a canonical topic in art history. From transcendental contemplation of nature, to ecological investigations artists have repeatedly renewed dialogues with the topic of water.  Water Works invites artists working with water:

Topics might include (but are not limited to):

  • Works about water that cross disciplines between art and science
  • Works about water in the context of art and ecology
  • Works about water in the context of socio-economic dialogues
  • Works about water in the context of adaptations and revisions of historical depictions of water

Artists working in installation, video, 2D, 3D, and other medium are encouraged to apply. Artworks must be made within the last 3 years.

About the Curators

The show will be joint curated by Amy Kim, Director of the UTPB’s Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery and Daniel Zies, Curator for the Ellen Noël Art Museum.

Venues

Water Works will be held jointly at UT Permian Basin’s Nancy Fyfe Cardozier gallery and at the Ellen Noel Museum in Odessa, TX. Decisions on the exhibition location will depend upon works submitted.

All submissions must be formatted as a single PDF:

  • Artist Statement
  • Artist Bio
  • CV
  • Artwork Images:

Up to 5 works captioned with artwork title, medium, dimensions, year.

(For 3D and installations please include photograph of the artwork from different angles.)

  • Video, time-based, or performance works should be represented with a single still image and linked within the PDF.

Shipping and Honorarium

The curators will invite select artists for an artist gallery lecture. Those who are selected must be willing to travel to Odessa, TX for an artist gallery lecture. Travel expenses and honorarium will be provided. Artists who exhibit at the Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery will pay for shipping one way. Artists who exhibit at the Ellen Noël Art Museum will have shipping covered both ways.

Gallery Exhibition: January-February, 2022 for NFCG and January- April 2022 for ENAM (exact dates to be determined)
