Demystify the nonfiction book proposal process.
Unlike fiction manuscripts, which are normally completed in full prior to being sold to an editor, nonfiction books are often sold “on proposal.” This class is designed to demystify the process of writing a proposal for a memoir, biography, or any other kind of narrative nonfiction book. Topics covered include: querying an agent, writing an overview, selecting comparative titles, discussing your platform, thinking through marketing and promotion, developing a chapter outline, and selecting sample chapters. We’ll talk about various paths toward publication and the role of the agent, the editor, and the author in the publication process. We’ll also review a sample book proposal and query letter.
No matter where you are in your writing process, this class will help you get a better sense of how to talk about and attract support for your nonfiction manuscript. http://www.writersleague.org/calendar/NonfictionBookProposalWilbanks2021
