Juror of Selection and Awards – Steve Rogers, AWS, NWS

Steve Rogers is an award-winning representational and abstract artist with more than 30 years of experience in teaching workshops around the world. “My purpose as a representational artist is to portray the beauty of light and color in God’s world as I experience it within my heart.” Many of Rogers’ images are watercolors he has painted since his first trip to the Mediterranean in 1992. “…I have been able to paint this beautiful land not as one who sees it every day, but as a ‘visitor,’ who is awestruck by something fresh and new, and at the same time, very ancient.” Rogers’ intuitive abstract paintings are inspired by the plein air locations that he teaches in around the world; his vision is to paint the emotional and spiritual feeling of a place.

A Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and the National Watercolor Society (NWS), Rogers won the NWS Annual Juried Exhibition Purchase Award Winner Best of Show in 2006. In addition, Rogers’ paintings have won hundreds of awards in juried competitions over his career, including four awards in the AWS Annual International Exhibition. His artwork was featured on the cover of American Artist’s Watercolor Magazine in the Winter 2007 issue. Steve Rogers has made a career of painting since 1975, and lives with his artist wife, Janet Rogers, in Florida. To learn more, go to Water- colorsbyRogers.com.
