Regular meetings of the Farmers Branch-Carrollton Art Association (FBCAA) are held on the 3rd Tuesday morning of the month August through May (except Dec.) Guests are welcome – demos are free; mini-workshops are $10. Location: Craft Room of Farmers Branch Senior Center, Valwood & Dennis Lane, Farmers Branch.

Guest Artist – Bill Dale Watercolor
Bill Dale Bio I began my art training as a kid with my mother who was a fashion illustrator in Kansas City in the 1950’s and 1960’s. From my her, I received valuable support, training and criticism. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Industrial Design in 1969. The most memorable thing from my college years was the 7:30 life drawing classes three days a week. I didn’t appreciate it then but now consider it some of my most valuable education. I began my professional career working in a design office in Wichita Kansas. There I learned the commercial side of art and honed my technical drawing and rendering skills. After 20 years, I opened my own design office in Texas. My primary profession is ‘Product Design’, specializing in exterior and interior styling, color, graphics, and illustration of aircraft and other transportation products.
I have been painting landscape/cityscape subjects and lately have been moving into more figurative work and portraits. Still trying to get control of the techniques, paints and materials. My work must be improving as I have been asked to do some “demos’ and small workshops for local art groups.

Workshop – Supply List
For the afternoon work shop the attendees will need to bring their own subject to paint. Subject could be figurative, portrait, landscape, cityscape…whatever. I try to paint them all but abstracts…. not so much.
They can start a painting from the beginning or paint on something they have already been working on. If starting a new painting it would be best if they already have their drawing transferred to the paper.
Paper: For the workshop bring professional quality paper: Arches 140lb. cold press or rough is what Bill uses. Have drawing already transferred before workshop.
Paints: Tube Watercolor preferred, all brands, professional grade but student grade okay.
- Cadmium Red or Scarlet Lake for our skin tones
- Alizarin Crimson for our skin tones
- Cad yellow and or Yellow ochre or Raw Sienna for skin tones
- Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Peacock Blue (Holbein) to “temper” our skin tones
- Burnt Sienna to mix with Ultramarine for our “blacks”.
Brushes: At least 1 large brush (#12 or bigger) and a smaller detail brush.
I will have a lot of my own brushes with me, I’m happy to lend out.
