FREE DICK HIGGINS
A Brief Look at the Books & Ephemera of DICK HIGGINS & the Something Else Press

September 28th – October 5th, 2019
Opening reception: Sept. 28th from 6-9 PM with remarks at 7:45 & performances at 8:00

Join us for the first pop-up exhibition at 214 Projects, FREE DICK HIGGINS, a sideways glance at the polymath artist, writer & publisher as seen through a modest selection of his publications, ephemera and performances.

We will also be celebrating the recent release of Intermedia, Fluxus and the Something Else Press: Selected Writings by Dick Higgins published by Siglio Press in 2018. This “survey of Higgin’s theoretical writings throughout his prolific career” also features facsimile editions of texts, ephemera and a Something Else Press publication checklist that he described as “love letters to the future.” This book and a few selected Something Else Press reprints will be for sale during the exhibition.

The opening reception will be interrupted with brief remarks by curator Brandon Kennedy and performances of selections of from Higgin’s acclaimed Danger Music by actors/artists including August Kennedy, Jesse Morgan Barnett, Kevin Rubén Jacobs, Stephen Lapthisophon, Michael Mazurek and others.

Please join us for an unforgettable evening and exhibition, then buy a book and take it home!
