In addition to the Joint Paint-Out at the Plano Balloon Festival in September, the regular Southwestern Watercolor Society Fall Paint-Out will begin with an orientation meeting on Friday, October 11, with free paint during the day on Saturday, October 12 , and culminating in an informal dinner gathering on Saturday evening.
On Friday, there will be an informal dinner at 6:30 PM at the East Texas Burger Co. located at 126 E Broad St, Mineola, TX 75773 (not mandatory) (Highway 80 and 69 intersection). There will be an Orientation meeting in the Hotel Lobby of the Best Western Mineola at 8:15 pm. This meeting is recommended as a way to become acquainted with the great possible locations available in Mineola, Grand Saline and Quitman, Texas, but it is not mandatory.
On Saturday painters will be free to choose their own location to set up in the area and lunch will be on your own. The evening reception and dinner will be at Lake Ford Captain Jacks Restaurant.at 3362 N Fm 17, Alba, TX 75410 (17 Minutes from Mineola) beginning at 5:30 pm. Please bring your art and a portable easel to the reception. Paintings that have been produced during the day will be shared and discussed during the optional reception. The dinner menu includes Captain jacks Famous smoked pork loin, vegetables, salad, cold drinks and tea at $15 per person. Pay Gaylord in cash the day of.the reception. BYOB. Twenty rooms have been reserved in a block with two queen beds or one king bed at the Best Western Mineola for $89.99 plus tax. Accommodations include a free breakfast. To make a reservation, you must call the motel (reservations for the reserved rooms cannot be made on the internet). Be sure to tell the motel that you are with the Southwestern Watercolor Society.
