Formerly a national show, this is the second year that we have returned to a regional scope, putting the emphasis on DFW area artists. Any animal species was accepted as subject matter for works, including wildlife and domestic, as well as creatures from fantasy, mythology, and Cryptozoology. In 2019, the special challenge category is that essentially Texas animal, the Armadillo.

This year 35 artists of all ages entered over 70 pieces of artwork. Participating artists:

Hugh Adams, Arthur Alonzo, Tina Alvarez, Eleanore Avery, Jan Barzottini, Denis Benjamin, Daphne Black, David Blow, Abigail Blue, Andy Bugh, Jackie Byers, Ruben Contreras, Steve Danner, Dee Elliott, Denise Foust, Juliana Garcia, Janet Gean, Jose Angel Hernandez, Jane Kahler, Amy Keng, Navneeta Khemka, Susan Kindley, Jean Knauber, Kinsey Lane, Donald Matheson, Sarah Murphy, Quentin Ochs, Trish Poupard, Michelle Rene, Victoria Robinson, Elisabeth Schalij, Stephen Schlarb, Lorraine Schwarz, Oz Scott, and Laurie Snidow

Our judge this year is Todd Eric Hawkins, Executive Director of the Irving Arts Center. Come & meet him at the Reception & Awards Ceremony on September 8th.
