ERIN CLULEY GALLERY is pleased to announce an exhibition by recent University of North Texas MFA graduate Taylor Barnes, SACRED SPACESopening on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 150 Manufacturing Street, Suite 210, with a reception from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m, and on display through July 13, 2019. The exhibition presents charcoal works on cloth and a large installation of her studio walls recreated in the space.

SACRED SPACES illustrates Barnes’ ability to address race, identity and her position in society. Through historical icons and personal narratives, she speaks to the realities of her identity. As a result, these works have become symbols of self-discovery and reverence. The charcoal on cloth works will be presented in the gallery’s exhibition space alongside a 16 foot stretch of wall from Barnes’ studio giving greater context to the process and history left from the work and creating a space for reflection.

SACRED SPACES will run concurrently with THE ART OF CHILDHOOD, an interactive exhibit designed for and curated with the help of young art enthusiasts. THE ART OF CHILDHOODfeatures site-specific installations by artist Zeke Williams including custom-designed wall treatments and handmade cheater quilts. A salon of works from the Erin Cluley Gallery program has been curated by a group of local children from Dallas and Fort Worth. Weekly programming of story time and other activities with participation from artists in the gallery’s program have been scheduled through the show’s closing date of July 13th.
