Place Making: SFASU Art Studio Faculty

May 3 – May 21, 2019

RECEPTION: May 3, 2019 @ 6 PM – 9 PM

Fort Worth Community Arts Center, Fort Worth TX

Proposed by Dr. John Handley, the director of the SFA Art Galleries, Place Making is a group exhibition of work related to place and place-making.

As a diverse faculty from a variety of backgrounds, the community we share around Nacogdoches and Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) unites these artists to a common cause. As specialists in various media, faculty artwork addresses issues of place in divergent ways. From paintings depicting the sprawling Texas highways to miniature metal replicas of remembered homes to representations of inhabitants of this corner of the world, together this distinct body of work comprises a portrait of a region. Others use travel as a means to explore.
