Poteet Victory is one of the most in-demand and collectable contemporary Native American artists in the world. Although Victory’s work is abstract,
Victory’s Cherokee-Choctaw influence shines through his paintings with masterful composition, breathtaking color, and his very own glossy finish.

Born and raised in Idabel Oklahoma, Poteet Victory was first approached by his mentor, Harold Stevenson at age 15 to model for his painting “Alexander The Great”. This relationship ignited Victory’s desire to become the artist he is today.

After attending Oklahoma University throughhis junior year, he then traveled to Hawaii where he mastered the art of silk screening. Next, he was on to Dallas and established his own company “Divine Designs”.

Servicing the needs of major record companies and like minded seekers such as Willie Nelson, along with Frito Lay and Coca-Cola,  “Divine Designs” was the first ever T- shirt printing business of it’s kind. Then in constant pursuit of his longtime desire to paint, Poteet sold his business and moved to New York City where he attended the Art Student League and enjoyed a creative friendship with Andy Warhol.

For over thirty years of painting, Victory continues to remain as authentic as ever and still has that Southeast Oklahoma charm. Although he prefers to work behind an easel, Victory will always be a “cowboy” at heart.
