The Space Between features handmade artist books and printed works that converge around the idea of the space between things in a literal and metaphorical sense.

Exhibition curator, Eileen Wallace, will give remarks at the opening reception on Friday, Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. followed by the opening reception in the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery.

The subjects on exhibit range from investigations of the physical and emotional space between people, places, and things, to that transitory moment when things shift and one thing, becomes another.

The artists employ design approaches that investigate empty space on the page. The space and shape between letters and form are highlighted. The works allude to that elusive space between things and how we navigate both the distance and the impact.

Contemporary artist books are a dynamic and interactive art form that involves printing, paper-making, typography, and graphic design. Wallace has a selected a talented array of artists whose strong craftsmanship and expression are powerful and engaging examples in the field.

Exhibiting artists include Inge Bruggeman, Ellen Knudson, Karen Kunc, Alex McClay, Katherine Miller, Leslie Noell, Lisa Beth Robinson, and David Wolske.
