The Secrets of Color by Kay Byfield

The Visual Arts Society of Texas invites you to The Secrets of Color by Kay Byfield from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Wednesday, March 5th at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 East Hickory Street, Denton, Texas.
Color is complicated and can take years to truly understand, but in this presentation, Kay Byfield will describe all the aspects of color (hue, value, complements, intensity, and temperature) to show how to effectively select and mix colors for artworks. The presentation will include an introduction to color theory, examples of how color has been used effectively by master painters, and a demonstration of color mixing.
Kay Byfield began painting in watercolor more than 35 years ago and, after earning a Master of Fine Arts degree, she taught college art classes for ten years. The courses she taught included design, painting, photography, art appreciation and art history. When she left her faculty position at the community college in East Texas, she worked as a corporate marketer while teaching at the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, https://www.creativeartscenter.org/.
Since retiring from her corporate job, she has been teaching more classes. In addition to introductory and intermediate watercolor classes at the CAC, she is available for workshops and group presentations. To find out more, check out the ArtSpeaks Studio website, at https://artspeaksstudio.com/.
The Secrets of Color is sponsored by the Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST).
The event is free for VAST Members and only $5 for guests.
