The Goldmark Cultural Center is proud to present “Embrace Who You Are”, an exhibition reception featuring artwork by Goldmark artist Jacqueline Vernon Jackson.
“Embrace Who You Are” is on display in the Goldmark Artist’s Showcase from 17 October 2023 until 29 October 2023, with an exhibition reception on Saturday 21 October 2023 from 2:00 – 5.00pm. Jacqueline will be present at the reception.
About the Exhibition
My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the images and ideas that I have about this world that God has placed me in. I don’t limit myself to one style, medium or concept. Each work I create is simultaneously an extension of where I have been, what I have learned and who’s I am. I like the idea that art doesn’t necessarily need functionality and I am inspired daily while observing nature, watching people, and surfing YouTube and Instagram. If a person stops for a moment to view and reflect on one of my works, then I consider my works as a success and I have provoked some kind of emotion.
This exhibition examines several techniques and mediums. The images and sculptures were chosen to display the emotions of embracing who you are, to be welcomed with open arms, to be hugged, to be sassy and to be completely accepted. As the focal point, I selected the painting titled “He Sees Me.” I chose this painting because it reflects the peace I feel when I know that I am doing what God has placed in my heart to accomplish.
