on April 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N.
Charles Street in Lewisville.
This meeting is open to the public and there is no admission fee.
UMUT DEMİRGÜÇ THURMAN
BIOGRAPHY:
Umut Demirgüç Thurman has an MFA from the University of North Texas in
Metalsmithing and Jewelry, and a BFA from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts
University in Istanbul, Turkey in Textile Design. She has been teaching
at universities and workshops for twenty years, both in Turkey and in
the USA. In her work, she is inspired by the patterns, colors, and forms
found in her environment, along with fairy tales. While working in her
studio, she responds to the processes and materials in playful and
intuitive ways.
SUMMARY OF PRESENTATION:
Umut will be talking about her artwork starting from her undergraduate
degree through her graduate degree. She will also discuss her
inspirations and processes in the studio, with a focus on enameling. She
will bring sample works and enamels and will be demonstrating basic
enameling techniques during her presentation.
