| MIXED MEDIA PAINTING Baronet | Sun | 3/19 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Design and develop your visual dialogue as you work with multiple materials and create an art piece from concepts including imagery and symbolism. Working with acrylic paint and other items such as paper, fabric, text, found objects or packaging, play with textures and apply various mediums to create a vibrant work of art on a Gessobord.NOTE: This workshop is held offsite at Katherine Baronet’s Studio in the Mix Creative Space. The studio is located in the lower level of the White Rock United Methodist Church. Please enter from the north side near the accessible ramp. | WATERCOLOR MIXED MEDIA WITH COLLAGE Janece | Sun | 3/19 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Develop the skills of laying down bold abstract structures in various mediums, applying vivid and expressive colors, and exploring placement of the collaging materials to add depth and dynamism to paintings. Through the creative process, with an experienced instructor, this workshop will help students discover and develop their own unique artistic voice and painting style which can be applied to future paintings they create. During the workshop Sarah Janece will begin with a demonstration/discussion which will cover abstraction and realism in watercolor, the exciting possibilities that exist in mixing various mediums and collaging materials, inspirations, tools, and techniques that students can build upon in the workshop as they paint their own piece of art. Each painter will receive individual attention and guidance through the painting’s development as well as encouragement to always find joy in the process. Sarah Janece’s enthusiasm for artistic expression, love of nature’s beauty, and excitement for painting will create an atmosphere of adventure as each student delves into creating their very own mixed media collage painting. | FELTED WOOL LANDSCAPES Morgan | Sun | 3/19 & 26 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM A new and relaxing way to felt, and we’ll add some hand and machine stitching to complete the work! In this fun 2 day workshop students will first learn to create a painterly style felted landscape through needle felting, then wet felting the piece. In the second session we will learn some embroidery stitches and machine stitching to really enhance and define the work. Instructor will supply: Dyed and undyed wool tops in many colors, silk fibers and yarns to felt in to enhance the work, needle felting and wet felting equipment (equipment to remain with instructor). Limited colors of embroidery floss and needles to stitch. Students should bring: An inspiration photo or two with simple lines, 2 old towels and scissors. Wear comfortable clothes that can get a little wet. For the second session students are welcome to shop for embroidery floss before class to really make the felted piece sing! VIEW ON OUR WEBSITE |
| CONTEMPORARY COLLAGE Baronet | Sun | 3/26 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Make a 9” shadowbox frame in this unique collage workshop. The shadowbox, matte medium glue brushes and many other materials will be provided. But in order to make it meaningful to you, please bring an array of personal supplies, including: fabric, art and fashion magazines, hand-made papers, beads, small collage objects, dried flowers, pressed leaves, old book pages, concert tickets, maps personal photos, etc. Also, bring a lunch. *THIS WORKSHOP IS HELD OFFSITE.* The MIX Creative Space, 9125 Diceman Drive, Dallas, TX 75218.
