CATALOG
Please email images of the work you are entering to [email protected]. Entries deadline October 8. Digital images must be jpg files with 300 pixels per inch resolution and a width and/or height on the longest side of exactly 1800 pixels/or 6 inches. Digital images that do not comply will not be accepted. Catalogs should be available to participating artists during the reception on December 16.
SALES
The Patterson-Appleton Arts Center takes a 30% commission on all work sold during the exhibition.
LIABILITY
VAST and the PA-AC take all responsible precautions to protect works accepted into the exhibition. Neither group will be responsible for any loss or damage.
PURPOSE AND ELIGIBILITY
VAST sponsors this annual event to offer its members an important opportunity to enter their work in a juried exhibition that showcases members only. The exhibit provides an excellent avenue for the North Texas community to appreciate the high quality and diverse nature of art produced by area artists.
ELIGIBLE MEDIA
ALL 2D and 3D work. No installations.
ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS
All artwork must be original, not a copy of a painting or other image. No mechanical reproductions of original work. NO giclee’ prints. Only work completed in the last 36 months will be accepted.
ENTRY REGULATIONS
- Wall-mounted work must be framed and ready for secure installation:
- framed work must have d-rings and wire (no sawtooth hangers)
- fiber pieces/quilts must have a hanging apparatus able to hang from 1 or 2 nails (e.g. a rod pocket with dowel)
- other wall-mounted pieces (glass, ceramic, metal, etc.) must have a secure hanging apparatus able to hang from 1 or 2 nails
- Bumpers required for framed pieces
- 40” maximum width dimension for 2D work
- 70 lbs. maximum weight for 2D and 3D work
White or off-white mats only - Works on canvas must either be framed or have clean, FINISHED gallery-wrapped edges
- Artist name and title of work must be clearly indicated on the back of the work
- Work must not have been exhibited in any previous VAST juried exhibition.
Images of award-winning entries will become the property of the Visual Arts Society of Texas for the Catalog and other printed material as well as for archives, website, and educational purposes.
ENTRIES
Artists may enter 3 pieces for jurying. Each entering artist will have at least one piece selected for inclusion in the exhibition. If a member chooses to enter multiple categories, there is a possibility of having more than 1 piece in the show. The entry fee is $20 for VAST members. Pay using the link on our vastarts.org web site or through your personal PayPal account with your name and “Members Exhibition” in the note box to [email protected]. or write a check and mail it to VAST, PO Box 1281, Denton, TX 76202.

All other awards can go to either 2D or 3D if there are less than 10 entries in the category.
JUROR
Katie Gorman Murray
The unsuspecting world is captured through the lens of Katie Murray and brought to life on canvas. Using a variety of techniques, Katie takes the viewer into the emotion of the scene, while her signature style of a work in progress brings intrigue and curiosity.
Katie Murray is a born and bred Texan. Her passion for creativity has led her to earn both a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Texas at Arlington in Graphic Design and a Master’s Degree in Painting from Texas Women’s University. Currently, Katie Murray serves as Chief Creative Officer for M2G Ventures. Since joining the M2G team in 2015, her focus is on murals, art, design, and curation. Katie is a co-founder and chief advisor for Art Room.
Recently, she has partnered with clients such as Macy’s, Wild Acre Brewing, Scout Design, The Fort Worth Zoo, McLean Middle School, and Facebook. She received Best Artist of Fort Worth by Fort Worth, Magazine in 2017.
Katie resides in Fort Worth, Texas with her family and dog Penny.

The 2022 exhibition will be held at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, located at 400 E. Hickory St., Denton, TX 76201
