Irma Ward: Update and new classes

It’s hard to believe that it has been four months since the pandemic took hold and changed our lives. I do hope that you and yours are in good health. For most of the time, I have been “laying low” as far as getting out, except for essentials. That is not to say that activity is low. On the contrary, I have been busier than usual working on new paintings and lesson plans for my students. When the “shelter in place” order was given, I started giving free Zoom art classes and continued with a weekly Zoom art class even after my regular classes reconvened in the studio. I learned how to edit the Zoom recordings so that my students have a reference later on.

Also, during this time, 15 students and I collectively painted “Sprague Lake” (shown above). Everyone did such a fine job on their 8×8 square and it all came together very nicely into this 32×32 masterpiece. We are donating the finished piece to “A Wish With Wings” (a foundation that grants magical wishes to young Texans with life-threatening medical conditions) for their annual fundraiser. Many thanks to all who participated.

The next series of oil painting classes begins on July 28th through September 2nd. A few openings are available. Beginners are welcome. I limit the class size to four and we follow CDC guidelines. Please Email [email protected] or phone me for details at 817-874-3032.

Class times are:

  • Tuesday 6-9pm
  • Wednesday 9am-Noon
  • Wednesday 1pm-4pm

Until we meet again, I wish you all the best for safety and good health.
