This workshop will provide a comprehensive look at working with collage materials and image transfers combined with encaustic paint. We will start the workshop, the first day, with creating some of our own papers to work with through processes such as rust printing and mark making with walnut and India inks. I will be demonstrating / creating multi process papers/rust prints as well. From there will be working with both the papers we have made, as well as other types of purchased papers to create richly layered backgrounds to transfer photographic based imagery onto. The end result will be a hybrid work that touches on elements of painting, collage, and photography. Throughout the workshop there will multiple demos on technique as well as best practices from combining multiple materials for best adhesion and surface finish. I will also present tips for what to look for when choosing images to work with for a successful transfer both from a technical and aesthetic standpoint.
