CREATIVE ARTS CENTER ESTABLISHING AN ARTIST RELIEF FUND FOR CAC TEACHING ARTISTS
CAC Launches Online Fundraiser in Which Donors Receive Original Works of Art
DALLAS -April 15, 2020 – In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Creative Arts Center of Dallas (CAC) has launched an online fundraiser in which one-half of the funds raised will go to an artist relief fund for its own teaching artists. In addition, donors will receive an original work of art tiered to a level of giving from $50 to $5,000. For a $50 donation a donor would receive an original woodblock print and for a $5,000 donation, a donor would receive a Carrara marble sculpture.
According to Diana Pollak, Executive Director of the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, CAC has a roster of more than 40 teaching artists, many of whom draw their main source of income from teaching at the Center. “Thanks to a generous anonymous donor who provided seed money to launch the fundraiser, the work was commissioned or secured providing financial relief to several artists in the early stages of the pandemic, she said.”
Although CAC had to cancel is spring class and workshop schedule, it has devoted its energies to creating and sharing online creative content to keep the community engaged and productive while sheltering in place at home. The Center is scheduled to open the June 1 with the summer class season to begin the week of June 8.
Levels of giving are:
- $50 “La Rosa”, woodcut print on paper, 10″ x 14″ by printmaker Benjamin Munoz
- $100 “For Joe” set of 12 – 4x 6″ greeting cards based on a mosaic honoring Joe Maddox, a long-time friend to CAC by mosaic artists Rebecca Collins and Katrina Doran
- $250 “Shard Monster”, mixed media mosaic, 2.5″ x 3.5″, by mosaic artist Rebecca Collins
- $500 “Kitchen Dogs”, poster print, 60″ x 30″, by artist Susan Collins
- $1,000 Untitled, jewelry set, including earrings and necklace by jewelry artist Rebecca Swann
- $2,500 “Full Table Fantasy”, oil on panel painting, 16″ x 48″by artist Emily LaCour
- $5,000 Untitled, Carrara marble sculpture, 14″ x 10″ x 25″ by artist Robert G. Pollock

ABOUT CAC: Not only is CAC a visual arts school, it is a thriving arts community for a diverse range of students from teens to seniors.
