2 SPOTS AVAILABLE!! “Problem Solving Class with a focus on Portraits” for November and December is every Tuesday, 10am-1pm at E. Melinda Morrison’s studio in Fort Worth just south of downtown. This class runs through December 17th.
We will learn how planes of the head affect both value and temperature to turn form, focusing on drawing, value structure, paint application, and edges. Each class starts with a personal critique for paintings students bring to class. It’s a constructive critique to help students know how to solve problems in their paintings. In this class, students will learn the best element for designing a successful portrait painting. Melinda will sometimes paint along with the students and offer demonstrations as well as provide individualized instruction and exercises to help students overcome their weaknesses. There will be two classes where student paint from the live model and learn how to set up the model for photos helping the student learn the best lighting situation and composition to create strong paintings.
Additionally, students can participate in a special portrait project of painting children. Those who wish to participate can auction off paintings where a portion of the sale benefits an international charity. $50/class and students pay each week.
