Marjaneh Goudarzi: As far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated by human figures, especially portraits. My fascination grew out of tragic circumstances, however: the Iran-Iraq war of 1985. My father had covered our red car in mud as camouflage from the indiscriminate bombing that would eventually ruin my hometown. As though escaping hell, we raced past the gigantic oil refinery ferociously burning.
Out of this context, namely, war—I found peace. In art.

Located on the far northwest corner of campus in Synergy Park North building 2 (known as SPN2 or SP2), our new 6,000 sq. ft. gallery complex consists of two conjoined exhibition spaces, two project rooms, a reception area, an office, a prep area, and serves as the home for the Comer Collection of Photography.
