Public Art Process

Join us at our monthly meeting to hear the presentation “Public Art Process” by Stephen Ross, the City of Frisco’s Public Art Coordinator.
Mr. Ross will walk us through the process of how public art comes to life, from idea to installation and everything in between. Mr. Ross will provide examples from Frisco’s Public Art Collection, a city where the commitment to supporting and promoting the arts is demonstrated by both its leadership and community alike.

Prior to joining the City of Frisco, Mr. Ross served as a Curator of Education at the Nasher Sculpture Center, overseeing all educational programming at the museum. From 2012-2013, he was the Project Manager of Nasher XChange, a city-wide exhibition of public art featuring 10 new artworks at 10 partner sites in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the museum.  Other professional experience includes working as an archive consultant for NorthPark Center in preparation of the 50th anniversary of the shopping center, serving on the Public Art Committee of the City of Dallas and teaching at Southern Methodist University in 2007. He holds a BA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.

We’ll also have a mini-critique during the evening, so bring a piece of artwork for friendly feedback. Framing isn’t necessary and works in progress are acceptable. We’ll draw for a prize at the meeting for participating Artists. RSVP Here
