Sat. October 5: Day Pass

$25 for Public
Day Pass allows artists to use The Cedars Union as their studio space for the day. We’ll have tables open and easels available. Use of equipment, such as the woodshop and printing presses, is not included without prior CU training. Space is limited to 10 users for a 5 hour block. 
Wed. October 9: Lunch + Learn: Copyright and Trademarks Part I

For October Maddrey will teach about copyright, its origins, what is eligible for protection, how to register, how long copyrights last, and so much more. This session will run an extra 30 minutes with discussion continuing until 2:00 pm! Boxed lunch included with registration.
Wed. October 9: Pressure Printing and Sketchy Monotype Workshop 6:00PM-9:00PM @ The Cedars Union
$60 for Public/$45 for CU Members
Pressure monotype printing is a method that uses an inked plate and the pressure of a drawing utensil to transfer line work onto a sheet of paper. Participants can bring in a photograph or drawing to trace and printmaker Adrienne Lichliter will demonstrate how to translate it into a monotype. This process does not require a printing press and may be repeated at home. Materials included. 
Wed. October 16: CU Member Workshop: Mini-Print Station
6:30-9:30PM Free for CU Members/CU Membership Required
Learn various ways to use the etching press and mini-print station through quick demonstrations in drypoint, collagraph, monotype, and relief. While there won’t be time for participants to practice each of these processes during the workshop, CU members will learn to use the print station and experiment moving forward.
Thu. October 17: CU Artist Talks: Vaniecia, Anaya and Tompkins 6-8PM @ The Cedars Union
Free with Registration.
CU Artist Members Sheryl Anaya, Lauren Tompkins and Desiree Vaniecia will give short presentations on their work and practice. Doors open at 6, talk starts at 6:30. 
Tue. October 22: Artist Statements for Applications

Pay What You Can
Writing about your work for an application requires some strategy. Learn how to write these statements effectively with tips and examples collected from jurors and application readers. 
Fri. October 25: Costume Lab 5PM-9PM @ The Cedars Union
$30 for Public/Free for CU Members
The best costumes are the ones you have to work for. Bring your spooky projects and we’ll have materials such as tape, glue guns, sewing supplies, paint and…candy. Drop in or stay the whole time. Monster movie classics will be projected on the photography wall. Also, BYOB. 
Tue. October 29: Speed Critiques 6PM-8:30PM @ The Cedars Union
$10 for Public/$8 for CU Members
Get critical feedback on a new or in-progress work of art through 3 eight-minute critiques from local art professionals. Perfect for those approaching midterms or those missing midterms.
