What you will learn from this workshop In this hands on, one-day workshop participants will learn how to make tiles, stamps, and tile boxes. Rachel will also cover the traditional art of majolica painting on tile. You will come away knowing the ends and outs of cutting tiles from slabs, embellishing, stamping, painting and the marketing aspects of tile making. |
About the Instructor Rachel Bates is an artist with many irons in the fire. A clay artist for over 25 year with a Fine Arts degree in painting and ceramics. She has been a ceramic tile artist for most of that time. She has also been involved with encaustic painting. tile installation, sculpture and wheel throwing. Her latest passion is music. Workshop Details: The workshop will be held at Cynthia Brinson’s studio in Arlington on November 16th from 9 am until 5 pm The workshop can accommodate a maximum of 12 participants The cost of the workshop is $65 for Guild members and $80 for non-Guild participants Students will need to bring a wareboard 18″ x 18″, old towel, 25 lbs of clay of their choice, joining slip, two pieces of clay canvas 18″ x 18″, stamps and texture tools, favorite brushes and plastic and plastic for covering work 18″ x 18″ There will be a pot luck lunch for which participants will be asked to bring a dish |
