Magnolia at the Modern is an ongoing series featuring critically acclaimed films.  Ticket Prices: Tickets are $10; $8 for Modern members; $7 for Reel People.  The Sunday noon show is half price. Advance sales begin two hours prior to each show.

MODERN CINEMA 2019* The Modern teams up with Fortress Presents for an unforgettable weekend of the best in recent and upcoming cinema. Curated by Christopher Kelly, this unique film festival features some of the best films from the 2019 festivals as well as sneak peaks of upcoming films touted to be 2019 award winners. October 11, 5 and 7:30 pm October 12, 2 and 5 pm October 13, noon and 2 pm  Full film lineup and screening schedule to be announced.

  Where’s My Roy Cohn October 18-20 Friday 4 pm, 6 pm, and 8 pm; Saturday 5 pm; Sunday noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm   One of the most controversial and influential American men of the 20th century, Roy Cohn was a ruthless and unscrupulous lawyer and political power broker whose 28-year career ranged from acting as chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy’s Communist-hunting subcommittee to molding the career of a young Queens real estate developer named Donald Trump. Britt-Marie Was Here November 15-16 Friday 4 pm, 6 pm, and 8 pm; Saturday 5 pm; Sunday noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm   Based on the bestselling novel by Fredrik Backman, author of A Man Called Ove, this warmhearted comedy/drama finds Britt-Marie, age 63, suddenly re-considering her purpose and habits after leaving her husband of 40 years. Accepting a supremely unglamorous job at a ramshackle rec center in the backwater town of Borg, she finds herself taking an interest in the daily routines of the town’s oddball denizens – who all seem perfectly content to be stuck in their ways.
