VALA: Resin Art Workshop by Christine Smith-Atkins

Sponsored by VALA – Visual Arts League of Allen.

Sunday, Sept. 29 2-4pm $55 REGISTER at https://www.valatx.org/events

In this workshop you will learn to combine pigments with Resin and pour onto a 16” x 16” Da Vinci Gesso 7/8 panel board to create a beautiful compelling piece of abstract art! You can use acrylics to paint your board first to create an interesting base painting for added depth, or go straight into pouring tinted resins onto your white board. Either way, you will end up with a beautiful original Resin Art Piece!

If you’d like to add additional elements to you board, such as crystals, rocks, flowers, leaves, etc. bring in whatever you like! Just about anything can be added to wet resin so tap your creativity and push the envelope in this free form workshop. I will share my experience for best practices in this medium to help guide you in the creation of your masterpiece! No experience is necessary.

****Resin takes about 10 hrs to fully dry, but begins to set after 45 mins, so art pieces can be left to dry and picked up at a later date(during Gallery hours), or you may bring a box, lid or container large enough(at least 18” x 18”) to transport it home after the workshop.

**ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED (except added in items like glass, crystals and rocks):

Includes: 16” x 16” DaVinci Medium Textured Gesso Panel (7/8 cradle board)

Acrylic Paints, Mica Pigments, Resin and general supplies(gloves, cups, mixing utensils, brushes, paper towels, etc.)

I will have a few kitchen blowtorches and 1 heat gun, for all to share. Feel free to bring your own if you wish.

*Limited to 18 participants. Fee $55
