Arlington Museum of Art June Exhibits: Keith Haring and Trey Wilder

Keith Haring: Against All Odds
June 21 – September 15, 2019
From June 21 through September 15, 2019 the Arlington Museum of Art will be showing street and pop artist Keith Haring’s groundbreaking works. The exhibit will feature fifty of Haring’s original pieces, showcasing his mix of fine art and bold lines. Haring’s career took flight in the 1980’s and depicted many themes including poverty, violence, racism, and AIDS. The exhibit aims to deconstruct the traditional view of Haring as an artist and highlight his activism in 1980s New York. Haring was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988 and spent the remaining years of his life establishing the Keith Haring Foundation. The Foundation aims to fund AIDS awareness programs and organizations that work primarily with children. Haring’s artwork has become a symbol for AIDS awareness and other community issues since his passing. The Arlington Museum of Art is excited to showcase Haring’s community-driven work.
