Fresh Start Show 2019 is a Juried Show of selected artworks by VAGF
members. The exhibits are in categories of Painting, Photography,
Sculpting, Drawing and Mixed Media. We are also promoting Young Talents
in our Shows. Awards will be announced at the reception.
Artists Reception will be held on Sunday, February 17 from 6-8 pm
at the Art Galleries of the Frisco Discovery Center (8004 N Dallas
Parkway, Frisco, TX 75034). Come and enjoy art, music and some
refreshments with us.
Main Juror :
Julie Ann Shipp received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing/Painting,
and Art History from the University of North Texas in 2000. In December
2005, Shipp completed her Master of Fine Arts in Painting while
directing the UTSA Satellite Space Gallery in the Blue Star Arts
District of San Antonio. She is the Arts Gallery Director at Collin
College and Professor of Art. She teaches drawing, painting, art
appreciation, and art history. Shipp is an abstract painter that deals
with the concept of capturing elements of transitory space.
Juror ” Art that speaks to me”: Lorie Medina is the
Chief of Staff for Mayor Jeff Cheney of Frisco, Texas. This role was
created for Lorie by the Mayor to advise him, drive strategic projects
and efforts and produce messaging and communications for Mayor Cheney.
Lorie is a nationally-recognized grassroots political leader. She’s a
published author, award-winning political organizer, runner up for
Dallas Morning News’ Texan of the Year 2010, has advised countless
candidates and elected officials, successful fundraiser and has been the
regular co-host on a syndicated radio show. Previous to her career in
politics, Lorie worked in telecommunications in several ascending
management roles. Lorie attended Baylor University and received a
Bachelor of Arts. Lorie is married to her best friend, Russ, and they
have 2 beautiful daughters, Meredith and Elise. She and her family love
Frisco and have called it home since 2004.
