El Corazon curator, Jose Vargas, exhibiting at the Latino Cultural Center

Visual artist and curator, Jose Vargas, who has collaborated with the Bath House Cultural Center for over 25 years, is having a retrospective exhibition, ” Retro-Mático 2,” at the Latino Cultural Center (LCC)

January 26 – March 30, 2019 Opening Reception: January 26 (6-8 PM)
Working from the late 1960s to the present, Jose’s art explores a wide variety of themes and styles.  Some of the areas of interest that inspire the artist’s work include music, fantasy, dream states, portraiture, the human heart (El Corazón), Mexican cultural and religious icons such as La Virgen de Guadalupe, Frida Kahlo and Day of the Dead imagery, spiritual beliefs, steampunk musical instruments, automobiles, and many other whims and personal journeys. This exhibition is curated by Tina Medina.
