– Michelle Gonzales’ work stems from a loss of family history and fragmented memories. References to a collection of personal photographs exist alongside embellished and eliminated imagery to highlight her experience with her lack of familial story telling. She physically and metaphorically interlaces materials and ideas together by fragmenting the composition and painting over various textiles that have been stitched together.
