PROJECT: MARK MAKING
AGES: 16 and up
Let Karen show you how to explore different ways to make your own unique set of marks and gestures. Every time your brush hits the canvas or your pencil makes a line you are making a mark that is uniquely yours. You can express emotion, movement, and other concepts in your artwork. Karen will teach you some of the ways to create different lines, patterns, and textures. You will experiment with a variety of ways to make your marks loose and gestural, or structured and controlled.
SUPPLIES:
Bring what you have of the following:
squeegee, a small spray bottle of ½ ammonia and ½ water, a small spray bottle of bleach, a spray bottle of water. Please label the spray bottles contents.
Everyone will need a hard rubber brayer, heavy gel medium, an old brush for glue and a canvas of about 18” x 24” or a little smaller. Karen will be providing some Yupo paper but if anyone has any they want to bring, then you will be able to do a lot more exploring.
