| WHAT: | The winning artwork from The Catholic Foundation’s 2018 ‘A Year on the Plaza’ Art Competition will be unveiled during a public dedication on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in the heart of the Dallas Arts District. Emily Holman Morris’ winning piece, “Windows to the City,” will adorn the 28-by-9-foot public art wall in The Catholic Foundation Plaza across from the Meyerson for an entire year.
The artwork celebrates not only the Cathedral’s architecture, but also the city of Dallas and its attractions. Before being selected as the winner, Holman Morris’ piece, along with submissions by other Texas professional artists, was reviewed by a panel of highly respected members of the local arts community. Dedicated in 2006, The Catholic Foundation Plaza was a gift from The Catholic Foundation to the Dallas community to commemorate the Foundation’s 50th anniversary. In addition to the art wall, the 3,900-square-foot public space is an oasis for Dallas citizens and visitors to enjoy. The dedication is open to the public. |
