New and Improved! This year, Arts After School is aligned with TEKS curriculum standards so the fun your kids are having out of school complements their work in school!
Fire up your imagination as we delve into the world of mythological creatures! Used to teach morals, convey the power of rulers, and explain natural phenomena, mythical creatures have maintained prominent positions in folklore throughout the world. This fall students will explore how fantastical creatures such as griffins, dragons, and sphinxes have been visually represented by artists in watercolor paintings, illuminated manuscripts, and ceramics to convey social and religious significance in European, Asian, and Mesoamerican cultures.
Arts After School is an exploratory program for students ages 6-10 that investigates the history of art and provides a forum for creative self-expression. This program not only offers art instruction, it nurtures life skills that foster constructive youth development. Through visual analysis and personal reflection, students will assess and interpret the ways in which they relate to the world and each other while gaining confidence in their decision making and public speaking capabilities. All supplies provided. Class size is limited; advanced registration required.
