CHARLOTTE SMITH | 2025
June 14 – August 2, 2025
Cris Worley Fine Arts is pleased to announce Charlotte Smith: 2025, a soloexhibition of new paintings by acclaimed Dallas-based artist Charlotte Smith. This marks Smith’s twelfth solo exhibition with the gallery, a partnership thatbegan in 2003. 2025 will be on view from June 14 through August 2, 2025.In this latest body of work, Smith continues to push the boundaries of herdistinctive drip and drop technique, now embracing a bold resurgence ofcolor and scale. Where previous exhibitions leaned into quiet restraint andmeditative motion, 2025 marks a shift—an ascent into light, energy, and arenewed visual intensity. The paintings ripple with chromatic energy—luminescent purples, sunlitambers, marine blues—colors that vibrate across layers of poured, pooled, and suspended paint. These works suggest not only aqueous environments, but also cellular forms, stellar constellations, and emotional landscapes. Thework’s rhythmic density and gestural nuance reflect both intuitive controland Smith’s deep commitment to process. The title, 2025, evokes the impact of time on creative evolution—a fittingmetaphor for Smith’s own journey. “Charlotte’s work has always carried asense of movement and transformation,” says Cris Worley. “But this newseries has an almost celebratory confidence. It feels like a breakthrough.”Smith began painting in her thirties while studying architecture and caringfor her ailing mother. What began as a personal exploration blossomed into aformal art practice culminating in an MFA from the University of North Texasunder the mentorship of Vincent Falsetta. Over the past two decades, shehas honed a signature style that marries labor-intensive process with avisceral immediacy.Charlotte Smith,
