Fourteen student artists from Texas Woman’s University present Vital Signs, a group exhibition that bridges the fields of art and nursing through a poignant exploration of aging and healthcare.
The exhibition runs May 9–31, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday at the Janette Kennedy Gallery at 1409 Botham Jean Blvd #105, Dallas, TX 75215. The Artist’s Reception takes place on Sunday, May 31 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Each artwork highlights a condition commonly affecting older adults—such as heart disease, diabetes, or COPD—translated into a compelling visual narrative. Created in collaboration with TWU nursing students, the exhibit reflects not only the medical realities of aging but also the emotional and spiritual dimensions of the human experience. Vital Signs is co-led by Dr. Aaron Loeb, assistant clinical professor at TWU Houston, and Giovanni Valderas, professor of drawing and painting at TWU Denton.
Vital Signs demonstrates how interdisciplinary collaboration can foster empathy, spark dialogue, and elevate public understanding of health challenges through creative expression.
